The Kiwanis Mission & Vision

The goal of Kiwanis Clubs is to support children here and around the world. Locally your Oakmont Kiwanis Club is involved with many agencies and groups who work aiding children and families. This is why Kiwanians have fund raisers. Oakmont neighbors and friends have been good supporters of fundraisers and by doing so help support the children of the world and our communities. In high schools there are Key Clubs, branches of Kiwanis Clubs. They are sponsored by Kiwanis and are service clubs helping children and the community. Key Clubs have a teacher and a Kiwanis advisor to guide them in learning good leadership skills and having fundraising projects. Oakmont Kiwanians have advisors and Key Clubs at Montgomery and Maria Carrillo High Schools. Maria Carrillo Key Club recently had a bake sale by Olivers and the Countryside Gift Shop. These students were inspired by the UNICEF project to earn money for Zambia’s children. Zambia is the poorest country in South-East Africa and families there struggle to feed and send children to schools. For Halloween the Key Club will have small, decorated trick or treat boxes to collect more funds for this UNICEF project. It happens I have been in Zambia and surrounding countries and have seen the poor conditions children and families often live in. One large pot of gruel cooked outside in a huge iron pot feeds many mouths. This project is a good learning experience for these dedicated Key Club members. Kiwanis thanks you for supporting us and children. You are invited to join Kiwanis. Many have said it is impossible to attend meetings, that’s ok help in our fundraisers.

Kiwanis empowers communities to improve the world by making lasting differences in the lives of children. Kiwanis strives to be a positive influence in communities worldwide — so that one day, all children will wake up in communities that believe in them, nurture them and provide the support they need to thrive. Our Kiwanis club fulfills the Kiwanis mission by serving our community through Kiwanis Community Service Projects

Kiwanis Service

Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis club, no matter where in the world it’s located. Members stage approximately 150,000 service projects and raise nearly US$100 million every year for communities, families and projects. By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone.

Our Kiwanis club focuses on changing the world by serving children, one child in our community at a time. To reach more people and have a greater service impact on their communities, many clubs sponsor a Kiwanis family club — K-Kids for primary school children; Builders Clubs for adolescents; Key Clubs for teens; Circle K clubs for university students and Aktion Clubs for adults living with disabilities.
